Her father had previously been an executive in charge of production for the perfume firm 4711. She grew up in her birthplace of Bergisch Gladbach a city of about 100,000 residents only 6 miles from Cologne. American-born German actress, TV hostess and former model Heidi Klum now lives in southern California.
